Medieval & Renaissance Costumes

  • Hollywood Costumes

If your in Melbourne and looking for a activity to inspire and excite you over the coming weekends, something that is outside of the normal then maybe you should check out the Australian center for moving images (ACMI).  ACMI is set to host Hollywood Costume an exhibition from London that showcases the most iconic costumes from a 100 years of cinematography.
The exhibition explores costume design and the role that it has played in helping with story telling.  Some of the true Hollywood classics are represented including The Wizard of Oz Costumes (1939), Roman Costumes from Ben-Hur (1959),  Scarlett O'Hara's curtan dress in Gone with the Wind (1939( and the little black dress for Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffancy's (1961).
The exhibition moves on to display some of the more contemporary adult costumes from recent movies such as Casino Royale (2006), Batman Costume for Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and outfits for Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady (2011).

It also features a behind the scenes look at the creative process that costume designers follow to get a project from script to screen and the discussion and dialogue that takes place in the development of screen characters. Hollywood Costume is curated by Hollywood costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis with Sir Christopher Frayling and Keith Lodwick.
