The Christmas season brings out a number of opportunities to dress in Christmas costumes. From Santa to Mrs Claus, to the elves and other holiday favorites, there are a lot of different looks made to suit every taste and budget. Whether it is for a children’s program or holiday show, to a Christmas party, wearing a costume of the season can get everyone in the right spirit of the season.
Children especially love to wear the look of the season, whether they are just dressing up for cute effect in the family Christmas portrait, or at the family party or appearing in a play or pageant. Many local churches have live Nativity scenes, with the smaller children taking on the roles of the angels and the animals, so the opportunity abounds for them to dress as everything from lamb to a herald angel. Children also look adorable in other costumes, such as the elf, the littlest Christmas tree and the reindeer. No party, Christmas portrait or family gathering would be complete without one sleeping, chubby infant in a Santa-look sleeper.
For the adults, the right Christmas costumes could be virtually anything, depending on the flavor of the party and the personal style of the wearer. Someone who is a little more traditional, for instance, would be more comfortable wearing something like a Santa Claus costume or even an elf. For others a little more interesting look could be in store. Watch some of the animated Christmas specials for inspiration and see if anyone recognizes you. Two of the funniest choices are Heat Miser and Cold Miser who battle for the right to control the weather- if you can get a friend to dress up with you, one can be the red clad, Heat Miser and the other can be the blue clad Cold Miser. (For an added boost of fun, learn the songs the two sing and perform for the party.)
No matter which of the Christmas costumes you choose to wear, you will have a festive time!
