Adult Chewbacca Costume
Who is the most famous Wookie in the universe? Quick, can you really name another one? Of course, Chewbacca is the only Wookie that we know by name and actually the only Wookie that I have ever seen. (Please, if there are more, do not send me mail and show off your Wookie knowledge.) Chewbacca costumes are popular for a number of reasons, especially for the very tall guys who prefer not to talk a lot when at a party. They can actually stay in character and growl and howl their way through the evening.
The rule for Chewbacca costumes is simple: do not go cheap or you will come off looking like a stray dog hell bent on staying out of the pound on a rainy night. Here are some tips to knowing if you have bought a dog of a Wookie costume:
Zippers, Velcro or dear, God, buttons that are visible
Good Chewbacca costumes do not look like costumes. That means that it is not obvious that you put this on and that it comes off. It should look like your own furry flesh, after all. If you have gapping Velcro, popping buttons or a zipper that gleams from across the room, you have a real woofer of a Wookie suit. (You may also be more Jabba the Hut than Wookie if you popping buttons.)

Even worse than the one piece Chewbacca costume with the noticeable zippers, etc., is the two piece deal that lifts up from time to time showing off the fact that it was
1) too hot to wear clothing underneath
2) that you need a tan and
3) that you need to hit a gym every now and again.
Wearing this type of costume might be better for those who tend to hit the beer a little hard, however it is not going to look great, or even good for that matter and would make even Luke Skywalker angry.
A tail
Okay, I have never seen a Wookie with a tail. If your Chewbacca costume has a tail attached to the seat, you my foolhardy friend have bought a dog suit. Slap on the floppy ears, paint your nose black and start woofing. You are not a Wookie, you are a woofie. Bark, bark. Down, boy.
